Q: Why is the first hour more expensive than the other hours?
A: The first hour is higher to help offset transportation costs.
Q: Why is there a minimum one hour fee?
A: For most jobs, even small ones, one hour can go by quickly.
Setting up seeing what needs done, and billing adds up. One hour
goes by quickly. One suggestion would be to compile many small
repairs into one trip.
Q: $45 dollars seems expensive to me. Why is your hourly rate so
high?
A: Actually my hourly rates are quite low compared to others in
the area. A market analysis shows fees ranging from $25 to $95
dollars an hour. In a handyman's line of work, as with most
service technicians, not all is profit. We have a liability
insurance transportation costs, tools, and a million little nuts
and bolts we must keep stocked. After all our ability to carry
most items needed helps us make more useful time of our day and
gets us out of your home more quickly to free up your time and
help reduce costs.
Q: Are you licensed and insured?
A: Yes I have a business license and carry 1 million in
liability insurance. That information can be provided upon
request.
Q: I am not comfortable with hourly rates. Can I get a bid for a
job instead?
A: In some circumstances I will make a bid instead of just
charging hourly. Usually these bids are for jobs that require a
half day or longer to complete.
Q: Do you perform heating and air conditioning repairs?
A: No. I can recommend a good technician that does if needed.
